Cosmetic Surgery

Surgical specialty which mainly concerns the skin and non-visceral soft tissues of the body with the aim of mainly reconstruction and aesthetics.

The incisions are made inside the nostrils but often also under fine part of the nose located between the two nostrils. This last incision called the external way is now very popular in the USA but also in Europe. It allows a better exposure and therefore a more precise work on the cartilages of the tip of the nose and leaves a columellar scar of 5 millimetres practically invisible especially since it is located in a shady area. It is possible to shorten a nose, reduce a bump, lengthen a nose too short, narrow its width, backward or advance its tip, reshape the cartilage to change its shape, with or without correction of a deviation of the nasal septum to improve respiratory function. At the end of the nose wings that are too wide or scattered can be corrected. The dressing consists of a metal splint placed on the
nose for 6 days. Strands can also be placed in the nostrils. They will be removed the day after the intervention.

Before the operation:

– It is advisable to quit smoking at least one month before and after surgery so as not to hinder heali
rin is not allowed in the 10 days prior to My.

– The skin will be disinfected with an antiseptic solution or soap applied the day before and the morning of the operation.

– It is recommended not to eat or drink anything 6 hours before the operation.

After the operation:

D-1 – Exit the day after the intervention. In some  cases, the surgery can be performed in an outpatient

setting (the patient leaves the evening of the procedure).

D-3 – The procedures vary from patient to patient, but the swelling of the eyelids lasts on average 2 to 4

days and the bruising, on average, 2 to 10 days. In case of pain (usually moderate), analgesics areprescribed.

J-6 – The metal splint and the nonabsorbable wires are removed on the 6th day. The absorbable wires inside the nose fall by themselves

D-7 to 10 – A social life is possible from & to 10 days even if slight swelling persists. During this period it

is therefore necessary to provide a vacation period in order to recover.

Duration of intervention: 30 mins to 2h.

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the ear pavilion when it is removed.

Before the operation:

– During the pre-operative consultation, the surgeon performs an examination of the ears and a

photographic assessment. A pre-anesthesia check- up is also performed.

– The day before the procedure, it is recommended to wash the hair and face, and the same day, the

ears carefully. Earrings and other piercings must be removed.

During the operation:

– Depending on the nature of the abnormalities in the pavilion, the duration of the procedure, the patient’s age and possible anxiety.

Otoplasty may occur:

1 – Under local anesthesia (this mode of anesthesia is reserved for short procedures and patients with little anxiety about the operation).

2 – Under anesthesia by intravenous sedation (local anesthesia is supplemented by relaxing products administered intravenously is preferred for long procedures in adults).

3 – Under general anesthesia (for long-term entions in children)

The surgeon begins by making a cutaneous incision in the retroauricular groove, that is, in the fold at the back of the ear. Small complementary incisions are sometimes made on the front of the pavilion. Hidden in the natural folds, they will be virtually invisible.

The surgeon will then detach the skin on a more or less important area according to the needs in order

to access the cartilage. To reshape it, he will then use different techniques, sometimes combined:

1 – The Stenström technique is to “recalI” cartilage

2 – The Mustarded and Furnas technique is based on the placement of non-diresorbable stitches.

3 – The Earfold TM technique, which involves inserting a memory memory metal implant at the missing anthelix fold, in order to reproduce this fold and “glue” the ear (the procedure is performed under local anesthesia).

To suture the skin at the end of the procedure, absorption points are performed. A dressing is then made with modelling compresses held by elastic bands around the head. Depending on the abnormalities to be treated, the procedure lasts from 30 minutes to 1h30 (for an ataplasty bilateral otoplasty).

After the operation:

– The pain is moderate and normally calmed by analgesic treatment the day after the operation. The ears are often swollen, with relief masked by edema, and sometimes bruises. The ear patch remains sensitive for several weeks.

The first dressing is removed and replaced with a lighter dressing, kept for a few days.

– A protective headband must then be worn day and night for about two weeks, then only at night for 4 to 6 weeks.

– Absorbable points fall within 2-3 weeks.During this period, it is recommended to sleep on your back rather than on your side. Sports are not recommended, as well as exposure to cold and intense heat (hair dryer for example). To limit the risk of infection, it is also not recommended to wear earrings or a helmet for 2 weeks

Watch out also for smartphones, which are often

real nests for bacteria.

Duration of intervention: 30 mins to 1h30.

Average length of stay: 1 day.

Painless procedure, under general or local

anesthesia.

This procedure aims to correct the drooping, loweror upper eyelids, pockets and dark circles under theeyes corrects the imperfections related to aging (greasy pockets, drooping or wrinkled eyelid) of the eyes.

The relatively light blepharoplasty that gives a real rejuvenation effect and whose satisfaction index is very high among patients.

The technique consists of removing excess skin and muscle that fall back.

Duration of intervention: 30 mins to 1h.

Average length of stay: 1 day.

Painless procedure, under local anesthesia.

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia. Silicone gel-filled implants are used.

To introduce the implant, an incision is performed either:

1 – In the axillary area or axillary tract.

2 – Either nipple or areolar.

3 – Either in the fold under the breast or sub- mammary.

The implant can be placed in front of or under the pectoral muscle (chest muscle). Both options have their drawbacks. If you plan to get

pregnant, it is best to wait 2 years after the surgery, otherwise you risk distorting the appearance of your

remodeled breasts. In addition, the presence of implants can slow down milk production or even stop it completely. Be aware that breast augmentation is not a permanent operation. Implants have a limited and little-known lifespan: they will need to be replaced during a new procedure.

Implantation in front of the pectoral muscle:

– More visible and palpable implants.

– Increased risk of capsular contraction (formati fibrous, hard, thick membrane)

– Prescribing painkillers for prostheses placed behind the pectoral muscle to relieve motion pain.

– Edema in the chest for 10-15 days.

– Hematomas that will be present in the area of scars that fade within a month. “Suture threads are removed between the tenth and

the fifteenth day, unless they are absorbable.

– With a two-week off period to be scheduled for recuperation and one month prior to resumption.

– Schedule a visit with the surgeon at 3 or 6 months and then at 1 year to check that everything is going well.

Duration of the intervention: 1h to 1h30.

Average length of stay: 2 days.

Painless procedure, under general anesthesia.

It involves removing fat from the abdomen, the thighs or the inside of the knees, centrifuging it and then re-injecting it drop by drop into the chest, which is why we call it fat grafting or micro-fat grafting or lipofilling.

A technique for the moment reserved for patients under 35 and without a direct history of cancer.

This lipomodelling allows an increase that does not exceed one to two cup size.

Alterations are sometimes necessary six months later to correct an asymmetry of the result or an insufficient result because part of the fat grafted melts, and that sometimes needs to be added. This technique is also used in addition to breast prostheses, we can put fat to soften the cleavage, reduce the space between the two breasts or hide vaguelettes and imperfections. For example, to hide the edge of implants visible in a very thin woman.

After the procedure:

“The pain is relieved by the usual painkillers.”

– Bruises (blue) persist for about 10 days with swelling (edema)

– The bra should be worn day and night for 1 month. work stoppage of a few days is essential.

The bra should be worn day and night for 1 month.

– A work stoppage of a few days is essential.

The sport will resume after one month depending  on the activity being considered.

– Small incisions quickly heal. Duration of the operation: 1h30 to 3h.

Average hospitalization time: 24 hours.

Painless procedure, under general anesthesia.

Liposuction
The purpose of the procedure is to aspirate excess greasy locations in order to modify the silhouette.

The best results are achieved when the following 3 conditions are met:

1 – Localized (and nondiffuse) fat overload.

2 – Skin sufficiently elastic (to retract properly).

3 – Weight close to normal.

Liposuction does not allow in any case to treat overweight or obesity. Liposuction surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. However, very localized fat aspirations can sometimes be performed under local anesthesia.

After the procedure:

Surgical procedures are systematically associated with swelling of the treated area associated with bruising (blue). To limit these effects, which are normal, compressive or panty dressings are put in place so that the treated areas are under pressure
and swell less. Pain after liposuction is moderate. It can be compared to soreness after intensive sports. They will be calmed with classic
analgesics. The panty is taken off to shower but kept day and night for 4 to 5 days then during the day only  the following days.
